Wellbeing is all about relationships.

Creating communities with soul and heart, by helping people take care of their wellbeing, not just their basic needs.

“What is the system cost, and human cost, of not attending to the souls of the people we serve?”

Dr. Sarah Schulman, InWithForward

What is RECOVER Urban Wellbeing?

RECOVER is essentially 3 things:

A Process - that is largely described as Social Research & Design. Our approach is emergent and adaptive, and involves understanding issues from the perspectives of the people at the heart of them. We also strive to deepen our understanding of different knowledge systems, specifically Indigenous knowledges.

A Wellbeing Framework - that has emerged from our research and experience and is now the North Star for everything RECOVER does. At the heart of it is a deep sense of connection and balance, and it identifies six kinds of connection.

A Set of Experiments - we call them prototypes and they are for learning - to test out ideas (usually related to roles & practices), to see what works, what doesn’t work, for whom, under what conditions.

We know that wellbeing is a big topic and completely tied to other topics including anti-racism, reconciliation, safety, poverty, the built and natural environments, sustainability, etc.

There is so much work going on at all levels that touch on these things. They are all using different frameworks, different language, focusing on different solutions. We invite you to learn about ours.
